I could not find any reviews here for the Nebroo Infinity OTC hearing aides so I thought I’d post a review.
First, a disclaimer: I have very little experience with hearing aides.
I have been using Apple AirPods as OTC hearing aides and haven’t been pleased. Overall, they are OK but they tend to amplify the wrong things…or maybe better, they amplify everything. Walking through gravel, opening a candy bar, walking into a room with an air conditioner…all those things over amplified and unpleasant. I’ve spent a lot of time in the settings but to no avail. And speaking of settings - I’m an Apple guy but even I find the iPhone control app difficult and confusing. It’s frustrating to have to fiddle with the AirPod settings.
My partner recently surprised me with a set of Nebroo Infinity OTC hearing aides. I’m an over-researcher and over-thinker so the first thing I did was Chat GPT them.
The result wasn’t super flattering. They are mostly marketed on social media platforms. That felt like a red flag to me. Also, the marketing is overhyped, and dealing with Nebroo can sometimes be difficult as per CHAT GPT. By the time I unboxed them I was super skeptical and had low expectations.
Surprisingly, they are worlds better than my AirPods. The amplified sound is a lot more natural, and nothing is over amplified (like walking through gravel).
There are 4 different settings: quiet, restaurant, outdoor, and music / movies. I would say each one is effectively tuned for each environment. The restaurant mode was my least favorite…but I think it was more the overall noise in the room and less a shortcoming of that particular setting.
They seem to lock on to the persons voice and push it to the foreground. Same thing with music and movies. I am very pleased with the way they function and sound.
There’s 6 volume levels and I only need to keep them at 3 or 4 with my moderate hearing loss. Settings 5 and 6 are too loud.
Overall I am very happy with them and wear them far more often than the AirPods.
I think they cost around $200 and for that price, I think they do a good job.
