MyStarkey App data and battery useage

I noticed that the MyStarkey app (on my iPhone) is one of the largest users of cellular data and is responsible for more of my phone’s battery usage than most other apps.

Looks like as much as 15% of battery usage on my phone. And a surprising amount of cellular data; I just reset the statistics so I can view over a controlled amount of time.

Do others notice this? Why is it communicating with Starkey’s servers so often? I turned of Analytics for now. And will probably turn off Activity Tracking. But, I wonder if most of the communication is Hearing Aid Data.

A bit weird that they are collecting so much data on us. And maybe their programmers didn’t do a good job limiting amount of communication. I would have expected it would mostly just talk to the hearing aids (over bluetooth) and maybe send some occasional reports to their servers.

I have a Pixel 6a.
Never paid attention to it. I’ll track it a couple days and let you know.

1% battery usage on my iPhone

Which data are you sharing? I had all 3 on, but recently turned off analytics to see if that reduces the usage.

Thanks. Would be interesting to compare. I was surprised that it is such a high use. I wonder if it is any thing that I am doing with the app in particular. I didn’t expect the app to be active that often.

I have them all OFF.

Walked in the park this morning and streamed a pod cast.
Checked and it was at 14% usage.
I’ll check it later in the day.

Is that battery usage or cellular data as a percent?
Interesting. Do you have any of the “Consents” for data sharing on? I see @kenoupcs has theirs off and seems to have much lower usage.

Battery usage.
Yes I have the consents on.
In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t have a big effect on my battery. I’m always usually around 68-70% when I put it on the charger at night.

Where are these “Consents” options? I can’t find them in My Starkey (on an Android phone with Starkey Genesis hearing aids). Thanks!

Look under about and privacy.
That’s under more at the bottom.
One last thing don’t be afraid to explore and play with the app.
That’s how you learn about it.
