MyPhonak app update

So far none.
It will always reconnect, because it uses BT LE for that, as opposed to regular streaming/calls where it uses classic BT.
Also, it will always take some time.
And especially noticeable amount if you’re using any BT streaming or were just stopped using.

Practice breathing, counting to 20 and similar techniques.

For this you might to talk with your fitter what they set up - it is possible to have long press down on the button for muting mics. Also, volume and program controls.
MUCH faster than waiting for the app to turn on
I use app when I want to check which program it’s currently on, or when I want to put different volume to each aid, but for simple volume up/down, mic mute and some program changes I just use button.

I’m not sure how Apple apps work. On Android, I go to Google store and find the MyPhonak app. When I click on it it will tell me if it needs to be updated. If I look around under more information or “about,” it should tell me which version it is.

For IOS devices it’s open the app - click on bars lines top right, scroll down to legal, click on “About The App”

I’ve had the Paradise P90’s now since December. The hearing aids themselves are great. The app, on the other hand, is a major shortfall. When I have the app running on my phone, I expect it to be instantly available…to change program, volume, settings. Unfortunately, whenever I access the program (which is running the background), the connection requires me to ‘retry’ and wait about 10 sec. I have 10 seconds…but not when I want to make changes to my hearing aids. Come on, Phonak! It’s time to improve your 2 star app. You’ve got 5 star hearing aids on a 2 star app. Just as comparison, my older pair of Oticon OPNs ran on an oticon app that was instantly available on my phone.

Agreed. Seems like they didn’t invest enough in testing of the app.

They gave us a vintage wine (aids themselves) and a polystyrene cup to drink it from (the app)!!

I have the same BT connection. I have to keep reconnecting my P70 UP aids to my phone even when after checking my emails or using another app.

A hint on the phonak app - it has to reconnect whenever your phone gives you an audible notification. I set all but the most important notifications to vibrate only, which helped a lot. It doesn’t speed up the reconnect time, however, which is annoying.

Do we know what the rumored 5.x version of the App will provide that’s new and better?

I’ve heard the update is coming on the 12th of Never.:rofl:

I think the thing people were hoping for is the ability to truly save programs that wouldn’t be erased by hooking up to Phonak software or revert to automatic program after phonecalls I agree that it seems to be on terminal hold.

I’ve heard August 18 give or take a day
It won’t be version 5.0 rather just an incremental update (4.0.4) but it will have the new custom program storage system.

woohooo that’s long overdue

I hope for an update which will make it connect swiftly… Any inside info about that @bigaltavista ?

No significant improvements to connection quality or phone compatibility bugs

I’ve heard a big redesign is planned for the next update in 2022, especially for Chinese phones like Huawei

They are aware of the negative feedback on app stores and via emails to apps@sonova.com and want to improve it but these things take time even for a company as big as phonak.

To clarify, this will bring improvements for Paradise, but not Marvel?

Marvel does not have the capacity to have these new features
It will be compatible with the new version of the app though

Seems like the update to help with custom programs has come out?

I just tried it and it seems to work fine. Finally the darn app might be useful.

Was the update in the US? Did it just update when you tried to open or did it require fresh install? I’m still on 4.0.3. I use with KS9. I know I won’t get improvements with KS9, but I’m thinking app should update. As far as phone goes, it shouldn’t care what (or if) I have hearing aids.

I live in Europe and it was updated as any other app from iOS.

I updated it. But the app doesnt work for me. Once i get into the mode for adjusting frequencies using the three slider icon, it simply just exits!

The older version atleast allowed to make changes.
