My Resound 3D smart app

Does anyone have experience with this app that can help me? My audiologist doesn’t seem to know much and I can never see her. She’s too busy. I have a terrible time using it. It doesn’t seem to stay on if I tried to use it on my phone and when I’m in a group of people, I have a hard time hearing

What do you mean by not staying on? The app just changes settings on your HA. It does reset to the default program when you charge them.

What phone are you using , To keep it on you will have to reset the phone power setting to not time out and blank the screen.

On iPhone, I don’t swipe up to close the ReSound Smart 3D app, generally. I keep it running all the time with Location enabled and set to Always On so that its Find My Hearing Aids feature has the best chance to work, should I lose an aid. The Smart 3D app does, of course, close if the phone has to reboot as after an iOS update or dead battery shutdown. I don’t turn my phone off at night either; I leave it on and connected to a charging cable.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter if the screen goes black with the app running; the app is still doing everything it should do when the screen is dark, as long as the phone is on. I wouldn’t leave the screen on all the time; let the screen go dark when the phone is not being used, unless your smartphone battery is way better than mine, or your phone will need a recharge much faster than if you let it go dark after a few minutes of non-use.

Dolores can you tell us why you think your Smart 3D app is shutting down? Does the sound in the aids change? Do you have an Apple or Android smartphone?

You don’t need the app running constantly. The app is used to change settings.

There are instructional videos that can help you use the app; here’s one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SeQnMVkQTY

For others, do a search for how to use ReSound 3D app

The sound will be on and I will be able to hear it when I put a different setting. Say I’m in a group trying to hear everyone. But after a while, it doesn’t have the same amount of sound. It seems to cut out or not to continue with the same amount of sound. It’s hard to explain, but I have it on a setting in a group where I’m trying to hear other people talking at first it sounds like they’re clear and coming in but then soon it changes to where it doesn’t sound as loud or is clear

Hear in Noise directs the focus to people directly in front of where you are looking, and just to the left or right of someone right in front of you. It’s not good if people all around you are talking. In that situation, a MultiMic+ might be appropriate.

@Dolores47: my non-expert guess is that what you’re reporting may be unrelated to the Smart 3D app. To me it sounds like your aid may need service, or at least a pro confirmation that it’s working as designed. One common failure point an audiologist can check is whether the receiver is working properly. The receiver is the silver piece out near the end of the part you insert into your ear. A receiver can start to fail intermittently and cause symptoms like this. Honestly my ReSound receivers need replacement every year or two, so if it’s been years since this was done, this could be your issue. Another possibility is that your microphone filter needs service, because they can clog up with dirt, dust, or debris.

I know you said your audiologist hasn’t been helpful or easy to reach, but your audiologist is the person who should check out the aid, if you bought the aid new from her. If you’re out-of-warranty and/or bought the aid from a source other than an expensive full-service audiologist, or just don’t want to go back to her, there are independent shops you can send the aid to. Ask if you need more advice on this.
