I have a pair of Phonak Audeo M50-RT aids bought just under 2 years ago. I have to admit that I am not 100% happy with these and the issues have not really been dealt with by my providers. . But over the last week or so I have had a new problem which is driving me completely mad. For no apparent reason I suddenly will hear the changing profile sound. If I then check on my iPhone Phonak app I find it has now moved into the Bluetooth profile. And it will stay using this profile until a manually switch back to automatic using the app. This happened 3 times already today. I have not used any Bluetooth connection today.
Actually today was the day I finally worked out what was happening. Earlier I just noticed that the aids weren’t working well at certain times and found that the profile had changed to Bluetooth. I assumed this was because I had used Bluetooth earlier in that day and it had just not switched itself back. But today I had not used Bluetooth at all.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so how was it dealt with?
If I completely turned off the phone BT I would not be able to monitor what is happening! I could however turn off the “Bluetooth classic” which is used for streaming. I will try that, but my experience is that it comes back on again if my aids are not connected to anything else (i.e. my laptop). But I will try this.
To me the biggest issue is not why the Bluetooth profile switches on (any sound event on the phone/laptop could trigger this).but why is stays on. The normal situation if making/answering a call, is for the the Bluetooth profile to come on, but that it switches back to automatic when the call finishes. This is what is definitely not currently happening.
I had a similar problem a couple days ago with my Phonak P90-R. They kept switching to streaming mode and staying there. I’d use the app to switch back to AutoSense, then a while later I’d find them in streaming mode again.
Rebooting the phone (Google Pixel 6 Pro) seemed to make it stop doing this, though I’m not sure I always notice.
It is likely that the frequent notification ringing of some APPs is causing your hearing aids to go into streaming. Check which APPs are staying in the background of your phone and try to turn off their notification ringing.
Menglxs. I suspected that something like that was happening, but that des not explain why it did not revert back when no further data was being sent over Bluetooth… In contrast, today I got a couple of actual phone calls. It immediately switched into streaming mode (i.e. Bluetooth profile), and in contrast to the presently undefined switches, went back to automatic profile when I hung up. Today I have had none of these unwelcome switches to the Bluetooth profile so I will continue to monitor…
-I have installed a new app and I get tones like you said.
-Installed apps have been upgraded.
When I switched from a blackberry years ago to an iPhone I went nuts.
Considering that I was wondering if you use an app like Waze for gps. It’s been the worst offender for me.
I’m currently using new Phonak P90 R’s, an iPhone and an iWatch6. Frankly I get into a loop when driving and it feels all have failed. Drives me nuts.
