Mimicking a CROS or BiCROS

I have no hearing in my right ear and significant hearing loss in my left ear. I am about to try a cros hearing aid, but someone told me that regular hearing aids can be made to function like a cros by making them “twin”. Does anyone know if this is possible? Has any tried.

Thank you

Standard Widex aids have had this ability for a while.

It doesn’t make any sense in your situation to look at them though, as they’ll probably be more expensive than a normal aid and CROS sender unit (the usual set-up), plus there’s no utility in having a fully functioning aid on the dead ear.

It’s sometimes a good option when there’s a wide asymmetry or an ear prone to variability due to repeated infections and you want to have the option to switch between the Binaural and CROS options under certain circumstances.

I would actually look at a BiCros so you have sound pick up on both sides with all the sound going into the one usable ear.
