I’m on my second set of trial aids, think probably they will work out, but would like a backup. The reason I am buying new ones is that I got hit in the head and the shell of my Oticon Acto Pro was shattered in my ear.
Someone here recommended a repair shop. I’m sorry I don’t remember who that was and I can’t find the message.
But here is the deal: Shop wants $350 to reshell and repair- paid in advance. But when I asked, “But what about the impression?” They told me,
“Greg mail it with out the impression , but I need a audiogram”
Hmmm.
This is from:
WESTSIDE HEARING AID LABS 1539 S. MASON RD # 35 KATY , TEXAS 77450
All in all a little odd. I can send them my hearing aid and $350, but I’m not feeling a high degree of comfort here. Any opinions would be appreciated, especially if you have ever dealt with this company before.
I got my aid back from Lloyd’s and it works perfectly. I’m very impressed with them. This aid appeared to be destroyed, although the colllection of dangling parts was squealing when we picked it up, so it was still working. I kept it all together in a baggie. Here is a photo of the good one and the destroyed one:
They sent me material to make two impressions- said they would use them both. My wife made the impressions and I sent it all off with a check for $230. It took about a month, but it came back neatly pacakged by express mail complete with a new battery and a cleaning brush. They even put the Oticon serial number on the side.

I see that Lloyds says they can repair HAs up to 7 years old.
I’m wondering if I would have any better luck with a mail in service than my Audi. My Audi sent my Siemens Pure Carat 701 (RIC) in somewhere and it came back saying that it can’t be repaired.
Looking back in the forums this aid seems to have come out in 2012. Any suggestions?
Sent a dysfunctional Bernafon 505 to http://www.directhearingaidservice.com/ on the advice from this thread, after PMing Seb and asking him if he still recommended them.
Fixed it, for not much money, and it is working now!
Took two tries - first time it came back it worked but drained the battery in a few hours, sent it back with a description of the issue, and he fixed it, on warranty, and sent it back. Works fine now!
I’ll update this thread if something changes but for now, Thomas at Direct Hearing Service has my vote.
