Since getting my Phonak Audeo M90 RT’s I am loving have better hearing via Bluetooth. I would like to get a radio that will pair with my aids, is this possible? Having looked it seems like this is not an option, but maybe one of you have found a solution? I am in the UK, many thanks!
I love my M90s too!
I did a quick Google search for “AM/FM radios with Bluetooth” and there was a surprising number of hits on Amazon. Hopefully something suits your fancy!
What kind of a radio are you talking about? Many smartphones come with FM radios and that should be an easy matter. If you’re talking about car radio, it’s much more complicated. They’re usually set up to receive bluetooth signals from a phone, not send them, but I have heard of some people claiming they had success in some situations. If you’re talking about a tabletop radio, just look for one with bluetooth capabilities, preferably 4.2 or higher and it should work. Could also use a computer as a radio and stream from it (assuming it has bluetooth–otherwise could us a TV connector.)
In reply to MDB, I need DAB as FM reception in rural Cornwall is poor. I have ordered a TaoTronics Bluetooth Transmitter/Receiver to attach to my current Pure DAB radio. All the radios I have looked at only receive Bluetooth, they don’t transmit it which is rather strange! Its for the kitchen so don’t want to risk my laptop in there, I have tried streaming the radio on my phone but it constantly buffers and I am fed up of missing what’s been said. Thanks for replying.
Needs to be DAB due to poor FM reception where I live, all the Bluetooth radios only receive they don’t transmit. I have bought a plug in TaoTronics Bluetooth Transmitter/Receiver to attach to my current Pure DAB radio off Amazon and will report back! Thanks for replying.
Apologies,I did reply to you, but somehow managed to to reply directly to you, please see above!
Thanks for clarifying. Was unfamiliar with DAB radio. Odd that the radios only receive bluetooth and don’t transmit. Seems like they’re designed more as a portable speaker. To me being able to be used with wireless headphones (and hence Marvels), but from some research what you state is indeed the case. https://www.avforums.com/threads/wireless-earphones-with-a-dab-radio.2259617/ Good luck!
I suspect there’s some restriction with Bluetooth that prevents a device from being both a receiver (sink) and transmitter. I don’t know this for a fact, however, so don’t quote me! It’s either that or the manufacturers think that allowing both would make the interface too confusing maybe. Mobile phones are an example. They transmit but don’t receive. I’ve heard that there’s no technical reason why it can’t be done, but phone manufacturers lock it down for whatever reason.
I’ve been looking for the same (Bluetooth one) but to work with my Phonak ComPilot. I was just going to get a cheap MP3 player that has a DAB built in.
I’m in the UK so been looking at Amazon UK.
Can’t offer any advice as I don’t use a com pilot! Good luck!
I don’t use a Compilot or a DAB radio but i do use a TaoTronics Bluetooth reciever/transmitter. They are super! Very versitile and pair easily with Marvels. They also have a very small powerful long-range version, and very low latency.
