The VA provides Signia hearing aids. Occasionally one falls off & I don’t realize it until taking them off to charge at night.
The only feature on the app is the battery charge level on the Bluetooth hearing aid status page. Seeing a charge level lets me my dog hasn’t chewed up the hearing aid.
I could see 20% for the left hearing aid. If I got too far away, the charge dropped to 10%. Further than that resulted in Tap to check battery level.
Had no idea where to find the aid as the Bluetooth signal travels easily to the house. I knew the aid is in the house, but not sure if it’s on the first or second floor west side.
Spent almost 6 hours looking the other day. The time before that was only a few hours. My vision isn’t as good as it once was.
For giggles & grins after locating the missing hearing aid I checked out the Apple Store & found a number of so-called “free” apps that quickly prompted me to subscribe for premium service or a free 3-day trial.
The apps are good; however they list every Bluetooth device in the house . Never realized we had so many.
Contacted Signia- no response as of yet. Figured I would reach out to others & ask what they use if their hearing aid app doesn’t have a find feature.
I use an app called LightBlue on my iPhone. It shows the signal strength value, not just connected or not. It shows up whether you’re connected or not as long as the device is still hot in BT. Using the strength you can use it in a “you’re getting hotter” vs “You’re getting colder” feedback as you move around. Don’t know what you’d use on android if that’s where you live. There must be something, though. It is just too useful a function.
I lost my Signia in a blizzard!!! My daughter came with her Android using a “hotter…colder” app as described above. It came within 1-1/2 feet I used a small plastic shovel to scrape with and it popped up. Im not sure what the app name was but it sounds identical to the one described.
It’s essentially a radio direction finding app. It’s not as good as triangulating with a loop antenna, but it’s far better than tearing everything apart or waiting to see if the dog passes it. Actually happened once.
This past time I wasn’t sure if the dog might have swallowed it except for the Hearing Aid Status page still showed 20% after I let the dog out. Whew.
Problem was it showed 20% when I was downstairs or upstairs. Only when I went to the east side of the house, did the Connected strength level drop to 10%. S on it was in the front half of the house.
My wife found it using her hand- she’s vision impaired. Whew.
Some companies include a tracker which is great. Back during 2020- the year that wasn’t, put the hearing aids in my pocket because they often popped off when I wore a mask.
They must have fallen out in a parking lot. Just didn’t know where. I never saw them again.
The Light Blue app is a good start. Ideally, Signia will get the message & incorporate a locator in the Signia App.
