JustinHIS, I have tinnitus like anyone else and it sounds like a high pitch HISS, similar to what they call WHITE NOISE. White noise is all friquencies of course. My tinnitus seems to have improved since I started wearing HAs for about 5 weeks now. I’ve had pure tones ringing in my ears before that you could pin point the friquencies but they were short lived. Mostly, I just experience a hiss. The intensity of the hiss varies at times with no apparent reason I can figure. The audible extender of my Widex Unique HA is set between 4 and 6K I believe.
Russ, my tinnitus sounds almost like a pure tone at frequencies 1.9 KHz, 3.8 KHz and 7.6 KHz, and with a smear of frequencies around those same frequencies. I have the impression that audiograms tend to miss part of my tinnitus, because the specific frequencies are never investigated; only frequencies nearby are investigated, and not with the discrimination necessary to capture where the real dip happens.
