Leaving behind Opn1 and looking for something better

Hi!
I’m new here. I’ve been using hearing aids my whole life as I have profound hearing loss on both ears.
I’ve been using the Oticon Opn1s since 2019 and frankly they were life-changing (with some caveats of course). As they’ve recently began faltering and technology has moved very fast in the past few years, I find myself a bit overwhelmed with the options. Any recommendations? Should I stick with Oticon or try Phonak/Resound, etc?
I would love for something that makes it easier to be able to have a conversation with someone in noisy places or social settings or even manage to distinguish the songs playing in a concert or the radio without having to take them off (as it seems the HA automatically put the singer’s voice on the same level as the bass, the drum etc and make it hard to distinguish anything).
FYI I still use shells instead of dome as when I first got them and tried them out the better fitting domes hurt my weirdly-shaped ear.
Cheers

Technology has advanced a lot in the last years, specially in regards to speech in noise. The most talked HA for speech in noise is the Phonak Sphere.

People tend to stick with the brand they currently have because they are used to the sound profile. That said, the best thing for you is to test them and choose the one you like the best.
It would be good if you post your audiogram , you will get better recommendations that way

These are the first Oticon aids I’ve had. I had ITE when I was a kid up until my 20s (I’m 35 now). Then changed to ReSound Dot2. I could hear a lot better but they made it impossible to understand people in noisy situations. In fact, I still use my one remaining old ITE when at parties or concerts because it works better to distinguish the songs playing XD

When the Resound broke down, I tried the Oticon and noticed a massive change (the Bluetooth also helped a lot, as I could now speak on the phone), so I bought them, but as you mention, tech moves fast and when we have to fork out a lot of money without knowing a lot about the tech, it can get a bit overwhelming. Thanks for the Phonak rec, it looks pretty awesome, tho I’m not fully convinced by running the risk of it running out of battery and having to spend a couple of hours without sound.

Here’s my audiogram. It’s in Spanish but the values are the same

Thanks

Most of your hearing loss is in the severe range.

Thanks for letting me know. I don’t live in an English-speaking country and have always been told it’s “sordera profunda”.

In the Spanish speaking countries, exaggeration is the norm “Coño carajo , estás sordo, anda a lavarte los oídos” — no politeness LOL
Sorry, I’ve couldn’t help saying this, it brought me memories

try Intent 1 however, if you upgrade to real 1, you can keep the set charger.
