KS10 left aid dead

While using my 3 week old KS10s tonight the left one shut off and could not be turned back on. Right one was still at 45% charge. After putting in base it started charging after about 10 min ? Sounds like the battery just went down much faster than normal on that one.
Anyone have same problem?

Update: aid was in “stock” mode for some reason. Found troubleshooting info: had to hold lower button down for 15 sec and then put in charger to exit “stock” mode :pray:t2:

I just had to have mine sent in. The right one would not connect or turn off. It would charge and act as a hearing aid but the green light would not go on. Luckily they gave me a set of loaners. I was told they would just be replaced. So I will get a new set.

I had a similar experience when I had KS10s. A reboot was required. If I remember correctly, I had to press the toggle for 10+ seconds…

Theres a toggle on KS10’s?

Sorry. Maybe not a toggle. Maybe just a super long button press? (It’s been a while!)

While filling gas at a station yesterday morning my fully charged KS10 right aid suddenly issued its “ding-dong-ding-dong” sound and shut down. I tried restarting it by pressing the lower button but it’d only flash the red light and shut down again.

EasyLine Remote could not even connect to the aids.

I headed back home to put both aids in my charger.
The right one (that had shut down) blinked, showing it was charging.
The left one’s light remained ON all the time. I thought it meant it was fully charged.

About 30 minutes later, when the right one was on solid light, I took them out of the charger.
Again, EasyLine could not connect.

The right one came back and started working.
The left’s light remained ON all the time but it didn’t come back on at all.
No BT connections to my phone, no EasyLine connection, etc.

Rushed over to Costco. They could not reboot my left so they are sending it in to the manufacturer. It’d take about 8-10 days for a fix during which time I have no hearing aid in my left ear, only the right aid. Can’t connect BT to my right. can’t do BT phone calls or watch movies through the TV Connector (because my left was the master?).

Seeing the above postings on this forum it appears there’s some history of KS10s going into “limp mode”, needing to be sent in if simple togging doesn’t help.
Has anyone found the reason or cause for this?
Note: my KS10s are about six months old, if that matters any.

Unless it was actually changed by the audiologist, the master Aid is the right Aid. Also if your left Aid is the master, just ask Costco to change it to the right so you can use Bluetooth.

I (vaguely) recall asking my Costco hearing specialist to set my left as the master.

I like your suggestion to switch the master to my right just so I can use BT in my current “limp” mode. Thank you.

Quick update:

  1. As noted above my left hearing aid went into “limp mode” approx 10 am two days ago (Saturday).
  2. At no notice the Costco hearing specialist saw me and sent the aid to the manufacturer. I was told it’d take 7-10 days to get it back (during which time I’d function with only the right aid in place). My right aid was not the master and unable to connect to BT/phone, etc.
  3. I called Costco (Sunday) 9 am and asked if they could reprogram my right to become the master so it can connect to my phone. They asked me to come in and I was there in 30 mts.
  4. Without my request they gave me a loaner aid for the left ear and reset/repaired my hearing aids to my phone and to Easy Line Remote.
The service was impeccable, fast, professional, and beyond courteous. It was empathetic. On a Sunday, before Memorial Day, etc.

I’ve been wearing hearing aids about 25 years now. In my experience, I know well how I’d have fared if I found myself in the same situation if I had bought hearing aids from someone other than Costco. Kudos to Costco and their business!

I was just connected to the easy line app. Only the left would connect showing 60% Right HA would not connect. Then a few mins later the left one died. Put it in charger and no reaction.pushed on off button…nothing. Anyone experience this?

Just found a post from December. Same thing. Had to hold back button down 15-20 seconds. Back to life
