Over the last week or so my KS10s keep switching into Bluetooth streaming and not returning to Autosense or my chosen program. This happens every time I press my iPhone’s side button to turn on the display, as well as when a text tone comes in, or even a silent email. While text tones are on- important for me- all other sounds and haptics are turned off including keyboard sounds and system haptics.
The problem is not so much a momentary switch into Bluetooth streaming, but the fact they don’t return to a program which actually lets me hear what’s going on around me, frequently leading me to wonder why my hearing suddenly turned off. I deleted the app and reinstalled it; restarted phone; turned Bluetooth on and off; It’s possible this might have started after my iPhone updated to 18.1… has anyone else had this problem?
Hm. I’m no techie, but it could be that with iPhones, you have to have BT turned OFF unless/until you actually want to stream a phone call or music with the phone?
For me, my Phonak aids paired + connected to an Android device will ONLY drop AutoSense when a call, text notification or my own internet search is done on the phone. Only at those times do the aids revert to default.
If I’m streaming music and a call comes in, the aids stay in BT mode for streaming from music to phone call seamlessly.
I hope others chime in with iPhone streaming. Especially intriguing that the issue started with the update to 18.1. I’d call Tech Support (but for what company?) to see what the work-around is.
Thanks for the input. But I’m baffled that for 3 years I’ve always kept bluetooth turned on and everything worked perfectly, now suddenly problems… must be something with the iOS update combined with apparently an updated Easy Line app when I re-installed it. The app also started telling me my HA’s batteries were almost out, then it showed they had plenty of charge when I quit and restarted the app. Sometimes things magically fix themselves, I’ll keep working on it!
I have experienced a similar issue and actually turning the phone off and restarting it seems to be the answer. Actually not frequent and starts randomly.
The app isn’t involved here. You could delete the app and still stream calls, video or music, etc and not miss the app. No different than if you paired to a tablet or computer. The broken situation with your phone would remain when that pairing is connected. This is probably a setting in the phone. I have carefully gone through notifications and turned them off for everything but calls. Streaming video and music still works fine. When I’m browsing and there is an advertisement on the page it often grabs the connection even when the video is completely mute. Quote annoying at times. But I could drop the connection if it were important to me, recognizing that calls wouldn’t be streamed while the connection is down.

I had a similar experience, with 18.1 & Naida Lumity’s, I thought, the 18.1 update was installed, until I read an article on ZDNET, which said the first 18.1 update was a BETA version, so I tried updating again, 18.1 updated again, I assume the official version? Installed, and most of the problems were resolved… I hope this helps? Cheers Kev
I had similar issue with my new Phonak Sphere. I had tried deleting app and reconnecting my HA, but still had same issue. Then I restarted my iPhone and it went back to auto. This happened once a while in the last few weeks. Could be app or Bluetooth issues? I also found that Bluetooth was disconnected when a call came in, and I had to manually connect it. Then next time, it’s disconnected again.
After yet another iPhone restart, the Bluetooth issue randomly fixed itself… for the moment anyway. The frustrating thing is how ‘random’ Bluetooth problems can be! Hoping it stays fixed for a while. Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions!
I bet you nailed it right there! Updates can make things better - like when I updated the Android OS on my Samsung Flip-4 from V11 to V12 a couple years ago (it’s on V14 now). I instantly went from 11 hrs a day usage with my Phonak rechargeables to 17 hrs/day.
But contrarily, when I updated my Mac OS the other day, all of a sudden the Sea Monkey app I use for journaling was BUSTED! We never know how things will work out till the update’s done. Then have to find work-arounds when things stop working.
