Even if I only frequent a handful of events, I still want to hear clearly
The website Audiolinks is a vendor who is selling and giving a biased view. From me a consumer, I prefer a hearing loop- easy, direct connection to the hearing loop-NO equipment to checkout. In comparison, with an FM or IR system, I need to borrow a receiver and neckloop, which often fails (my experience last night).
I am waiting for BT LE Audio with eager anticipation. However, BT LE and Auracast are not synonymous. Auracast is a subset of BT LE. Auracast specs will not be completed for 3 years. Then manufacturing and testing. Compatibility with all hearing aids. Do you think thousands of existing venues will immediately rip out and BUY a new system? nope, but probably over time. In the meantime, over many years, as a consumer I need Bluetooth (classic and LE) and telecoils.
See article by Stephen Frazier, once high up in Loop New Mexico, IIRC.
I’m not “high up” in Loop NM - I am Loop New Mexico and still a stalwart supporter of hearing loops. That being said, I am also an unabashed supporter of Auracast. LoopNM.com currently offers information on both technologies and sofnabq.com offers many of my published articles on both technologies.
The Micro RIE are much smaller. I think they are the smallest available. That was one reason I chose them.
Hi Steve–Glad to see your post here. A belated thanks from years ago when I was new and enthusiastic about HAs! You were a trusted adviser. I’m still here (well, there–now in CA) and still wearing HAs with satisfaction. All the best!! --Melinda
My new Jabra Enhanced Pro 20 hearing aids have Auracast rather than Telecoil. When this technology becomes available, how will I be able to use the system? Will my hearing aids just automatically pick up the Auracast signal? Will I have to buy some kind of accessory to use it?
If they had Telecoil, how does one use it? I have only been using hearing aids for a few weeks.
How to use Auracast? There’s no answer yet. We (users) want direct to hearing aid connectivity for simplicity and ease of use (no intermediary device). That’s the beauty of telecoils inside the hearing aid (not a remote mic) - direct connectivity. We expect the same for Auracast to be fully accessible. We must demand direct HA/Auracast connectivity from the hearing aid manufacturers!
