Is this moisture damage?

Can’t get these photos much clearer, but is this corrosion around the li-ion battery due to moisture damage or something else? When this happens do the hearing aids typically need to be sent in for repair/replacement? Is this what happens if they get wet with sweat/rain or does this require something more extreme?

can be a bad battery that leaked?!

Dry box like a Dry and Store is always good to use anyway!

I wondered about that. I’m not sure what a li-ion leak looks like as usually the li-ion cells are well covered. Web says li-ion doesn’t tend to leak.

This looks more like rust on the battery shell which suggests water damage and corrostion? Rayovac Hearing Aid Batteries – Important Things to Know to Ensure Patient Satisfaction states a rust color is corrosion not leakage.

This suggests that even those with rechargeable batteries and an IP68 rating, if the battery door can be opened, it might need to be opened when they get damp to fully dry things out. This also might be why the batteries are sealed in epoxy in some aids.

also, when you don’t use the device, open the battery door or better extract the battery out
