Is there any programming the audi can do with the Phonak Roger On?

So are you saying that streaming the Roger at full volume thru aids turned OFF (as in being muted) could be loud enough for me to hear? Ack. If I was a DIYer with my own copy of Target sw, I’d tinker with it and add a MUTE button to see (or rather hear!) if it could work for me.
:thinking:

I think I remember something about if you get the other receiver licenses the Audi can increase the volume of the roger even more. Maybe @Zebras knows what I may be misremembering?

WH

Yes it’s called EasyGain on the 02 licenses.

Can be raised to +18 dB.

Yes, absolutely. There must have been some miscommunication with your audiologist. If you can hear with your hearing aids at all, you’ll be able to hear throught the Roger with the hearing aid microphones muted, and this does reduce some restaurant background noise.

And how does that work with Roger In licenses?

WOW! I am so glad you pointed that out. I will share this information with my audi when I go back to retrieve the 2nd pair of BUSTED Lumity Life aids.

I won’t give up on the Roger solution! :grinning:

Her post regarding the 03 license is HERE.

I’m also intrigued to know this

if there is a new Firmware (actually V.2) for Roger On, your audiologist should be able to send it to your Roger On, if yours has the old one (V.1).

Or you can update it yourself using USB and a windows PC, you will need to install a phonak roger upgrader program.

@Neville Does muting via the my phonak app work, or does the muting need to be programmed via the hearing aid buttons?

Jim

I’m not 100% sure, though it should be quick to find out. I would guess that the app would work the same as programming the mute function onto the button, but I can’t say I’ve tested it.

I w ould most definitely test having an option using the mute option or at least having an option to lower the hearing aids so that most of the input is from the Roger. that is what works best for me. with your level of loss, ( mine is bad too ) you want to hear a conversation not the rest of the background noises , I cannot sort it all out.without lowering the background. nothing to lose by trying.

Just tested with my unitron aids and yes, muting in the hearing aid app mutes the hearing aids and not the Roger stream, so should work the same for phonak. Muting in the Roger app mutes the Roger.

It works in the app but it is sometimes more convenient to do it on the aids by doing 2-second press on volume down.

So, if it is set up on the aids, volume down would be doing triple duty;

short press = volume down one click
2-second press = mute both aids (microphones)
5-second press = power off/on

Also, for me, I can hear around my table in a loud restaurant with the following settings;

  1. Roger On program, set up in Phonak Target software (at my hearing service provider) to have Noiseblock set to strong.

then, at the restaurant,

  1. Roger On near the middle of the table, in table mode (or auto), with the usb port pointed at me

  2. Position myself with my back to the noise, as much as possible

  3. Hearing aid microphones muted

  4. My Roger app open. phone beside my plate, changing the focus on the “pie” as needed.

With this setup I can hear around my table about the same as everyone else at the table.
