Is "Static" sound in Oticon Real 1 demo normal?

I am trying out the Oticon Real 1 Bi-Cross hearing aids for the first time.

For some background on me, I have been deaf in my right ear for 56 years with gradually hearing loss in my Left, “good”, ear and I have pretty severe tinnitus in that ear (high pitch screech) I have tried and decided against over-the-counter hearing aids several times over the years because my hearing loss is and always has been more in the high pitch areas, so amplifying the low pitch is unbearable.

Yesterday I got a loaner set of the Oticon Bi-Cross Real 1 hearing aids. One thing that is really noticeable to me (and I do not have them adjusted up in Gain yet, volume has been in the 80% since I got them yesterday) and there is a noticeable sound of static. I have tried turning off the right side (my deaf side) to eliminate that as the problem and when I adjust the volume up the static sound gets louder accordingly.

In comparing this to my Soundcore Earbuds the Soundcore has zero static and the sound quality is noticeably better.

My partner says that I will probably just get used to it, but for me it seriously diminishes my experience. I’m not sure if I want to invest this kind of money in something that is less than ideal (it is making it easier for me to hear, but the balance of having static is a problem.).

Did I get a damaged unit? Anyone else having issues like this?
