Is Roger V2 mic or Phonak Lumity Life 312 due for firmware update?

I ask cuz I’ve had myriad odd problems of late. I have 2 pairs of Lumity Life 312 aids and 2 Roger oN iN mics. They were cross-paired by my audi a couple weeks ago, so that I could grab either pair of aids and either mic and voila! I’d be able to stream cuz the aids/mics were paired + cross-connected.

First issue: the mic would never connect automatically. I’d have to get out of my easy chair, walk over to the dang mic, pick it up out of the cradle, turn it ON, then hit the re-connect button on the back of the mic. IF the magic “check” appeared, I was good to go. But often, it takes several tries to get the “check” to show. Instead, the dreaded “?” (invented by my father?) appears. WHY? I sat in the chair at my audi’s with Phonak Tech Support walking her through the procedure. After several attempts, these aids & mics were cross-connected.

Second issue: one of the pairs, my Precious (problematic) Pinks simply WON’T (as in willfully refuse) to connect to the champagne-colored Roger. It’s able to connect to my other, slate-colored mic, but no amount of pressing re-connect button, turning aids/mics ON, OFF, yada yada will register with the Pinks. That seems odd.

Third, my Roger mics seem to CLING LIKE A BARNACLE to my other pair of 312s, the Pirates. Dunno why! I have the mic in the base, so it’s obviously in “connect and stream” mode, but if I’m upstairs, far from the TV, that dang mic will CONNECT! DISCONNECT! STREAM! DISCONNECT! with the dingle-dongle connect/disconnect tune going NON-STOP until I go downstairs and remove that mic from the base. (to stream, it has to be turned OFF in the base; only if I use the mic as a remote do I turn it on) EDIT: No matter how many times I manually take my aids out of streaming mode - confirmed by the tone tune - they go right back into streaming mode non-stop, like a battle between my manual program selecting and the aids insisting I want them in streaming mode.

I guess I’d be okay with forgetting about the cross-pairing altogether, but it seems like capricious connecting the way things are going on. So much so, that I wonder if the mics, the aids, or both are due for a firmware update? Phonak NEVER informs my audi, so I ask here, and more often than not, get the answer I need to go back and make app’t with my audi. Anyone here have a similar issue or a clue about the problematic cross-pair + connect of these redundant devices?

For the record, I have a pair of Tommy Bahama rubbah slippahs I use in the shower. The right slippah walks around at night and is always in a different position come morning. Hubs has witnessed this oddity, so perhaps my house has issues and chooses to heckle me? :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Bluejay, your post just cracks me up! I know you’re asking for help, and I don’t have any answers, but boy are you funny! Really appreciate you!

My phonak app drives me bananas sometimes too.

This never happens to me. I have a set of P90s & a set of i90 spheres, and two v1 roger ons. Both are paired to both. I haven’t used the p90s much since I got the I90s. But the short period I tried it all seemed to make it look like they could each connect to the others. I find that the Rogers never grab the ears unless *) the mic is turned on, or, *) the mic is in a powered dock and attached to a powered/connected fiber cable, or, *) the mic is in a powered dock and analog audio cable connected actually transmitting audio. If the audio stream drops for more than about 40 sec the roger connection drops until a little while after audio starts coming in again. Dock not powered & roger is off? No connecting. That roger connection from the dock can be doggone persistent if the conditions are met. I think you can get a change in how the program switch is made to a rocker switch verification. But not certain about it.

What’s going on with you? Makes my head hurt.

I never do the repairing on this, just like I never re-pair the BT connections. I’ve had to hard reset a Roger on a couple occasions. (Stream goes mono, and known problem & fix is hard reset.). Gotta re-pair after a hard reset.

Glad to provide the humor to my odd situation! I don’t have Roger app or myPhonak app on my phone. I’ve had mixed results with those on my Android in the past, and didn’t get much use out of the Roger app for sure. These 312s seem to work well enough in situations so I don’t have to tinker with the settings as allowed in myPhonak.

But then all these odd connect/disconnect issues stalk me. I’ve had odd things off and on for a couple years now. It could be some kind of issue as WhiteHat explains above, so tomorrow I’ll re-check all the variables. My audi is no rocket scientist, and Phonak is so oblique with support for the Rogers … up to the V3. I think that’s the mic that connects to as many Phonak devices as a person owns. But to buy that on top of the investment I’ve made in aids and mics seems like highway robbery!

Augh! I wish I had your setup. Ours is complicated. We have the entire media setup on multiple devices controlled by Savant. In theory, I select the room and my profile, and should be streaming easy-peasy. But I wonder if I should go back to my audi, have her physically REMOVE the Roger license from both aids, then start all over with ONE pair of aids dedicated to ONE Roger mic.

I’ve even tried to remove licenses from my aids and NOT succeeded in that! But I’ve managed to stab my dang mic to death in the process. So my safest bet is to turn this over to the pros.

Our audio cable SHOULD be transmitting audio, but not sure how to test that. The TV audio is A-OK. It’s only my streaming via Roger that flakes out. As you mentioned, streaming TV via audio cable only works when mic is switched OFF, seated in its cradle. That seems the main problem area. I don’t have probs when I remove the mic from its cradle, turn it ON and use it in remote form.

That is until it refuses to connect at all and gives me the “middle finger” … yes. The QUESTION mark. I want to crush it under my heel whenever I see it. Plus, I’ve been trading off the Pinks for the Pirates every other day to see how stable they are. I’m off to another grand adventure in the boondocks overseas. NO support for rechargeables, so I need these two pairs of battery aids doing what they need to do: work reliably for all streaming on phone and via the mics. Or I’ll throw them overboard, fed to the polar bears.

Thanks for the advice and sanity check.

Just resetting the rogers will allow you to pair one set of aids with one, and the other set of aids with the other. Easy test.

Press center button and connect (chain icon) buttons at the same time & hold ten seconds.

THANK YOU! It may come to that, so thanks very much for the “how-to”. :slightly_smiling_face:

One last question: after I’ve re-set the Roger mic, do I have to go through the steps to apply that Roger mic’s license to my aids again? That involves the pin-push press under the belt clip on the BACK of the mic. Then pairing the mic with a pair of dedicated aids.

I think it would simplify things if I have ONE mic dedicated to ONE pair of aids.

No. Resetting the mic doesn’t affect the aids at all. Just need to re-pair.
