IOS 26 update due to drop today

IOS 26 is due to drop today. My son has been running the RC beta for a few days and seems satisfied. Has anyone tried it with the MyPhonak app yet? Any issues? I’m somewhat hesitant to jump in the pool. Minor releases, I usually don’t have an issue doing right away, but major? Ugh.

I have been testing iOS 26 for the past two months and it works fine with the myphonak app. One added feature to the operating system is you can now designate which microphone you want the system to use for phone calls and voice. I choose the iPhone microphone because it picks up much better for phone calls, and voice to text than the hearing aid microphone does

I just installed iOS 26 today. I haven’t used it extensively with the MyPhonak app, but all my hearing programs are still there, and all the tabs are there and working, including Health data synchronization.

Overall, I like the new screen layouts and icons throughout iOS 26. I don’t like the GLASS look and have gone to Settings, Accessibility on my iPhone and Apple Watch to turn off transparency, and on my lock screen, I’ve made the time a solid white on a solid black background. All my home screens have a solid black background, too. My wife did the same and turned off all transparency, too, as much as is possible. Many settings screens now include more detailed explanations. Color is introduced in subtle ways. PCalc, one of my favorite apps, suddenly has the Clear key and the Backspace(delete) key in red, and subtractions in the calculator “tape” show up in red, none of which was there before.

No issue with my GN hearing aid.

An issue I did find is that one of the apps for glucose monitoring — xDrip4iOS — doesn’t work as far as monitoring, it will display the app, but no readings collected, while plugged into CarPlay. The maintainers have no real answer yet beyond acking that the problem is reproducible. But nothing hearing related. So far. Yeah.

This is a good idea. Can you explain how we activate this change?

Thank you!

On the iphone go settings then sound and haptics. On that page there is an input method It defaults to Automatic. Using the drop down change it to phonak

I had to remove and read the app in order to connect the hearing aids. Bluetooth recognises the phonaks and I can adjust the settings on my phone, but it won’t let me answer the phone or stream music.

I tried that but phonak option doesn’t show

There should be three Phonak connections active: Two LE for controlling the devices and a third one for streaming and calls . Are the three connections active ?

I updated my iPhone 16 Pro Max to iOS 26. I initially had issues connecting the myPhonak app to my Sphere’s but I rebooted both the iPhone and the Sphere’s and the problem went away. Haven’t had any issues since.

Thanks for this, I immediately went to my iPad and turned off transparency as I really didn’t like it. I hav also turned it off on my phone and watch.

I apologize you choose iPhone microphone from the drop-down
