Indeed a very interesting concept. Sadly I doubt if it will eventuate in my lifetime.
If it’s resting against the eardrum I assume the tiny microphones will be subject to ear wax. How would you keep them clean??

In looking at the diagram, I get the feeling the device is within the middle ear and is taking vibration off the back side of the ear drum and converting it via the amp into an electrical signal. I may be wrong, but …
