Implant grade 675 size batteries

When I got my Cochlear implant a year ago I was given three rechargeable batteries and a holder for disposable 675 cells and a pack of Cochlear Implant grade 675s. I was told ordinary 675s would be useless. I have carried the holder and Implant 675s as backup.

I have used the rechargeable exclusively until last week when i was caught out by a rechargeable dying on me away from home (think I had mixed up the fresh one and used one that morning).

Since I have a lot of 675 ordinary ones from my ReSound Enzo days I tried some of these “useless” ones as an experiment. They have been going for three solid days so far and still working.

I have Nucleus 8 cochlear system.

Anyone any info or experience?

I have read the CI batteries are better but the standard 675 batteries should work.

Give them a try. Let us know what you find out.

The standard ones lasted just four hours short of three days, used 16 hrs a day with several hours of streaming which I think uses more battery. I haven’t tried the implant 675s to compare but the standard ones are far from useless as I was initially told.

I just talked to a buddy of mine that has a N7 processor.
When he and his wife travel he uses disposable batteries rather than the rechargeable ones. He does use the 675 CI batteries and they last about 2.5 days.
