I'm taking the plunge

Hi all,

I’ve been contemplating self programming for a couple of years - and I am ready to dive in.

Can anyone help me with reputable sources for hardware?

For the Hi-Pro I was looking at this seller:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/181393942163?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Same seller can include CS44 Cables for no extra shipping costs

Because I have Oticon Agil Mini RITE aids, I would need some flex connect as well. These ones seem to be right:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/261540362817?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Obviously I want two flex connect and it looks like he only has one left - hopefully the seller has access to more.

Can anyone tell me if these are reputable sellers? Or if I am looking at paying too much and there are better options?

I have already downloaded Genie and have it working well. For me the complication with hardware is shipping costs - I am in New Zealand which generally means $$$$

Thanks in advance for your help.

Good Luck to you with the new project, I only just got my first set of Aids last week and am already thinking about going the self programming route.

The initial cost for the hardware and finding a reputable supplier has me a little shy, Would be nice if there was a way of trying out some hardware before you take the plunge.

I also wonder a little on how often one would need to reprogram, although I know tha right now I sure could do with a few tweaks to my Resound vo961s

I seem to be having the most trouble finding the flex connect cables part number 390-01-180-05. Does anyone have a source for a seller? Does anyone have some they would like to sell me?

Many thanks!

interesting… this product does not seem to be sold anywhere!!!

I now have all the equipment and have had a good play inside Genie and successfully tweaked my Agils. Wow. After all these years where I’ve wanted to kick my audi off the computer and look at the settings myself, I’ve finally done it. Genie has been easy enough to use - what a sense of empowerment rather then frustration.

One thing I’ve not been able to crack is looking at the settings in my streamer, is this possible?

Hi there, hey did you find the settings for the streamer? It is definitely possible to do this in the genie software.

Where can you find Genie to download, all I found was one dead link.

I haven’t been able to find a way to program the streamer, too. I only found a firmware update program for the device.

Hey shooting star I got mine from ebay seller bidbybid for 399, new in the box. shipped from california, arrived in three days and it works. I recommend him, the cables I got from someone else for about $50.00. The cables you need are CS=63,cs=53 & cs=44, I purchased them from ebay seller salukisfly, I just checked, he has one set left for $59.00, if you want them you had better jump on it.

I downloaded the Oticon 2014 it’s in a folder on the c drive (with sub folders etc) ran the install, now what do I click on to “run” the software? I just want to see what it is as I don’t have the HW for it to talk to my ha’s.

I Guess that’s a streamer & a BT dongle on the laptop. MY audi never attaches any wires to the aids when programming.

I use to be amazed but now simply amused…

Guys? Any help?

Hi there, hey when you open the folder you should see a couple of files called setup.exe or genie install.exe or do you see the genie icon? Any of these should install the software
I use Genie 2013 SP1 and that is what i can use to install on my pc.

Hi thanks,

Do I need the SP3 file also I did not download that yet?

Hi yes you can download the SP3 as well and see if that helps, but if you want to program the Alta or Nera model’s I’m sure you will need the latest version of Genie(2014.2)
I’ll download it now myself and see if i can install it without problems and let you know.

I’m very new to all this. Is self programming something that can easily be done? I’ve seen self programmable aids advertised that look easier than what my dispenser does. Should I try that first? I’d rather not waste money on two setups if one is significantly better.
