I’m new to this site and want to learn how to program my Costco Rexton Bio-Core hearing aids. What do I need to do to get started? I must have gone back to the Costco Center over 10 times the past and it still doesn’t sound right. At one adjustment session, the results was almost perfect but this could not be duplicated later. Do I need to purchase a Noahlink wireless BT programmer to get started? Can I use my iPad pro 12.9 to tune my hearing aids or is a desktop computer required?
Welcome to the forum I am sure that @tenkan will be along shortly to answer your questions.
Hi there, hey great your willing to give DIY a go, it’s not too hard to do, but yeah you’ll need the Rexton flavoured Connexx software and your correct that you’ll need the Noahlink wireless programming device, unfortunately the software is windows based so no iPad (well unless you can get Mac OS running on it!) of course it is possible to run on MacBook but a few issues come up, as you’ll need to use bootcamp or some other virtual machine to run the software, plus the Noahlink wireless doesn’t run on any ARM based chips, so all in all a cheap windows laptop is the way to go if possible.
Thank you for the information on Windows OS. I primarily use my iPad Pro and also have a desktop Mac, but I’ll check my old Windows laptop to see if it’s still functional. About 5-7 years ago, I was all set to adjust my own hearing aids—Rexton HAs from Costco—because my provider couldn’t get the settings right despite multiple appointments. She seemed to get frustrated and eventually told me that what I was hearing was normal for someone with high-pitch loss. However, her adjustments were so off that I couldn’t wear the hearing aids in public; the high-pitch sounds were too amplified, and I struggled to hear anything in the mids and lows, which I can normally hear. I’m determined to get these tuned correctly. At one point, my Costco provider did tune them almost perfectly, but then something changed, and she hasn’t been able to get it right since. I can hear okay with them, but word clarity is difficult. Interestingly, when I use my Aftershokz bone conduction headset, I can hear every sound perfectly. I’m glad there is hope for me. Thank you so much for helping!
Are there any HA Programming devices like the Noahlink wireless 2 that can be used on IOS to your knowledge?
Yeah I get your frustration, sometimes to get things exactly how you like requires a bit DIY, as everything is windows based only way with Mac is the bootcamp or other virtual machine, so Noahlink wireless work but not on ARM based chips, other programming device like HiPro will work,so I believe you’ll probably need win10 on that old laptop as well.
Thank you Raylock1. I hope to enjoy hearing conversations again once I get my DIY tuning set up. I’m so glad I found this site form a YT video HA link. I have a lot of inventive ideas to have those with hearing impairments to enjoy hearing much better. Would be good to turn ideas into reality.
@tenkan Do you know if the ConnexxAir works with IOS? Is it compatible with @maukaman Bio-Core aids. I have a like new ConnexxAir that I don’t use. Or is it the software that is the issue?
Unfortunately it’s Noahlink wireless only for Bi-core. It’d most likely work with OS on older models tho.
Thank you Raylock1 and Tenkan for helping me with my question. It seems like I will need to purchase a used Windows laptop for my hearing aid adjustment journey. I hope to adjust my Rexton Bi-Cores so I can hear clear sounds again especially from voices.
I recently ordered the Noahlink 2 online, and it should arrive within 1.5 week. I plan to use it with a Microsoft Surface Pro 7 running Windows 11. Will this setup be compatible for fine-tuning my Rexton Bi-Core hearing aids purchased from Costco?
I’m eager to start adjusting my hearing aids to improve speech clarity, as voices currently sound a bit muddy. It’s been a while since I’ve considered self-tuning, but I’m confident I can learn the software and achieve the results I need.
Has anyone used the Noahlink 2 to tune their Costco Hearing aids? What are some things I have to focus on for better speech? Especially women’s voices and in loud environments where the hearing aids are picking up so many different sounds at the same time and the EQ level is way off.
Welcome to the forum, great your giving DIY a go, please be sure to research and read the user guides before starting your DIY projects as it’s very helpful for setting up the first time, you’ll also need the Rexton flavoured Connexx software for your Costco models, your PC needs to be Intel as Noahlink wireless won’t work with ARM based chips.
Hi tenkan,
I just wanted to say thank you again for your help as I got all loaded and started fresh after loading my audio gram. All seems to be working fine. I am going to do micro adjustments when needed. Is there a test for real world sound testing when I’m performing adjustments with the app?
Hey that’s great news, yeah small steps to begin with, i think there is a “sound studio” in Connexx for playing sounds etc.
Hi tenkan,
Thank you for all your advice. I was able to self-tune my hearing aids within two days with the Connexx app and Noahlink 2, and I can now hear speech clearly. This is like a miracle for me. For over 15 years, I couldn’t hear a word or make out what was being said on the car radio, but now I can hear all the voices distinctly—though not perfectly. With a few more tweaks, I believe I can fine-tune them even further.
For now, I’m enjoying the improved clarity and focusing on listening to various live speech, which has already improved significantly. My next goal is to test the hearing aids in crowded, noisy environments to identify which pitches still need adjustment. I plan to take notes in different settings to pinpoint sounds that remain unclear and fine-tune accordingly.
Great, it’s always good to hear about a successful DIY project, actually if you wanted you could take your laptop and programmer with you into the local mall/cafe and tune on the fly while having a coffee.
