right after charger or is it automatic
Just take them out of the charger. No other action required. if you’re quick enough, you will hear the startup sound after inserting them into your ears.
Edit to add:
But there’s only a limited time for Bluetooth pairing, so you may have to restart them if that’s what you’re trying to do. I hardly ever bother with that, so I can’t give details.

Ray - that is what my audio told me. I took them out of the charger and I have been waiting 15 minutes - no sound.
If I put them in and push the button on each side I will hear the chimes, one after another.
Is the sound right out of the charger a very soft sound?
I even read the fine print in one of the O. pamphlets and it said in small print, "If sound is not heard when taken out of charger, push the push button, one on either side. " And yes I heard the sound one after another

push the button on each of the aids. Then I heard the sound one after the other.
Thanks Ray
I don’t know then. I only have to take them out of the charger (Oticon Intent 3). Maybe this is a configuration issue that the audiologist would have to fix. I’d follow up with the audiologist.
check the speakers are not full of wax if they don’t work, you need to
take them to service.
You can also check if you have your phone to see In the bluetooth settings
