How to disable hands-free calling for MFI hearing aids? (Oticon More)

I’m surprised no one has reached out to Oticon support. I did and they solved the problem for me. I also received the 1.3.0 firmware update and was excited for hands free calling but quickly discovered audio call quality issues (for the person on the other end). This is a well known issue when using HAs for bluetooth 2 way audio streaming. Phonak Marvel was the first to do it (to my knowledge). I had a Marvel and I liked it but the phone calls were annoying, I felt like I always had to be in a quiet room to make a call. I tried a Phonak Paradise which got an upgrade on the mic but it also was not perfect. I probably would have kept the Paradise but the battery life with their new CROS wasn’t lasting the entire day so I tried the Oticon More and I’ve been happy with it and their new CROS.
Anyway, the solution to solve the problem of the new hands free is simple (if you have an iPhone). Triple click the power button on the right. You should be presented with an option for Input Options. Turn it OFF. That turns off the mic input. That’s it! I tested it and I am now back to using the iPhone mic which yields much better call quality for me and the caller. Small price to pay for me and I’d rather simply hold the phone up near my mouth. Not a big deal. Of course, you can always turn it back ON with a simple 3 click and turn the Input option back on.
You’re welcome!
