Just curious:
Are some manufacturers known to be better than others and provide firmware fixes for longer? Or do most of them more or less abandon the product once the next generation comes out?

No, we get fitting software updates usually a couple of times a year. These contain the updated firmware for the hearing aids. These usually follow Bluetooth and IOS updates, plus performance enhancements to the hearing aids if there’s been refinements there too.
Thank you for your many contributions to this forum, including this one!
FWIW, I recently noticed that specifically the ReSound app has received six (6) updates in the past year. Their release notes are largely meaningless.
Thanks again.
Best, Bob.
Hi Bob,
The app updates are fairly independent of the actual firmware updates to the devices though. You might get minor changes to improve usability or appearance of the app from the software designers at any point. This doesn’t actually alter any aspect of what the original poster was asking about in respect of the ‘firmware’ on the hearing aids which my response addressed.
The point being that you (usually) benefit from firmware updates to some extent even if you don’t use the app at all.
More widely, from a simplicity/stability of connection point of view, I usually recommend that my clients (using Iphones) don’t download the app unless they specifically need it: just because of the increased connectivity problems created.
