How can we use Telecoils with Phonaks latest hearing aids?

I really want to have the ability to use a telecoil with the new Virto Rs I’ll be trying, but it seems no Roger device supports this. Do I need to make some sort of stupid workaround with something that supports a telecoil and a line out, then pipe the line out into the Roger device? if so, can someone recommend a telecoil device please?

@Michael_Phonak Will a Phonak neckloop work in reverse ie pick up a Telecoil signal and convert it to a Roger direct signal which could be received by Infinio aids?

I wondered this actually but assume it just works one day from reading about it. A Transmitor rather than receiver.

If the Virtos have a telecoil in them then you need an induction loop to feed it. That can be a neckloop or small loop or a venue. Then THAT needs to be fed a source. You can also diy a loop and feed it a speaker output from some source.

The Virto’s don’t and in fact none of the Phonak new range do any more as far as I can tell. So I’m wondering how they expect any new hearing aids to communicate with telecoils.

Do you think they’re working late trying to solve this? ; )

Just to be technically picky, the telecoil is the pick up thing. An induction loop is the sender to the telecoil. If the aids don’t have a telecoil and there’s a functioning loop then maybe there’s a device with it’s own telecoil which maybe it can re-transmit out to bluetooth which the aids could receive.

Unfortunately, when Phonak does not include telecoils, it appears they are denying patients their ADA rights - clear audio for assistive listening, with hearing loops, FM, and infrared. Here’s the list of all hearing aids that have telecoils or telecoils/Auracast. “ADA-Access-Ready” Hearing Instruments List

My Starkey Edge AI have both telecoil and Auracast.

OH heck yes. I imagine they’re up all hours of the night going darn it, we gotta solve this induction loop problem for that mad blind guy on the hearing aid forums  No but seriously, it is stupid. I can understand, just about, not including the telecoil in the latest hearing aids. We can debate whether or not that was right or wrong or whether it could have been done or not. What I cannot understand, they built a new roger device, why not include it in there. It would have been such an easy thing to do and let’s face it, there is enough induction loop tech out there that won’t get replaced with auracast for many many years yet.

I don’t know where you are or what locations you frequent but I rarely see public loops.
I once saw the usual kind of sign in a government office and mentioned something about it and the clerk knew nothing about it and there was no visible mic in their area that I could see.
I once made use of one on a ferry cafeteria.
I tried to make use of one in a train station in London but it was no help at all to hear the clerk.

Other than that, I agree, telecoils are such a simple solution for the user. But there have to be loops.
I made my own for an office desk job to hear my own music. I made my own in a house to try to hear the tv dialog better (before getting new hearing aids that could use the tv connector).
