Hi there, great your giving DIY a go, be sure to do some research and read the user guides before starting as it’s very helpful for setting up the first time, so yeah no worries it’s all easy enough and as you say your computer savvy, so I’m sure you’ll be up and running in no time, you’ll need to post your audogram so we able to offer a bit more advice on receiver power and domes to use.
Should I order domes while waiting for my noahlink to arrive? I see they’re available in open and closed in several sizes and shapes.
Mom has a box of “vented dome 4.0 S” and a bag of what appear to be small tulip domes. She also has a cerushield disk which I think is the earwax filter.
How would I know what size / shape would work for me?
My audiogram has information:
ER-3A Inserts were used for the test
Ear canal volume 1.69R 1.90L
Peak Admittance (mmho) 0.70R 0.54L
Peak pressure (daPa) -365R -306R
Curve type A A
Get the target software and enter your audiogram in there. It’ll then tell you what domes you should use. You can do that before the noahlink wireless comes.
Hi there, great your giving DIY a go, be sure to do some research and read the user guides before starting, and don’t forget you’ll need the Noahlink wireless programming device.
Hmm. It shows a dropdown with the various types. Open domes is the default and that’s not the top of the list. Other options are vented and power domes.
Is it suggesting that I try the open ones first or am I in the wrong section?
Also it’s mentioning wire length. Do I need to worry about that? My mom and I have approximately the same size head and ears and our outer ear shape is about the same.
Okay, so they’re programmed. Everything sounds crisper. They seem to be working well. I started with the small vented domes. I assume it’ll take me a bit to get used to them. I performed the squeal calibration and I also told it what tips I had, but I wasn’t sure what other fitting tests I should perform. Does anyone have any suggestions?
One problem I see is that Bluetooth streaming doesn’t seem to work. I have an iPhone and both are connected in the Bluetooth menu. On a phone call or in the music app, they do not appear in the list of audio devices. Any ideas?
So first up, did you pair correctly, do you see something like R- Phonak ( or L-Phonak depending on which side you set as the "master) in your bluetooth settings, So when you see the name come up for your HAs you tap on the name and you’ll get a confirmation beep that paring is done, but just be sure to follow the instructions here.
I went back to check. Under device options->bluetooth, it’s set to right and adaptive bandwidth for the standard, streaming and phone call tabs. The myphonak app tells me to go to settings and select the devices. I have, they are connected and the only option they have is “forget this device”
They don’t appear as an option in phone or music.
Any ideas?
These aids don’t have a Roger installed, whatever that is.
Yeah you don’t need to worry about the Roger products for now, but if you follow the instructions given you shouldn’t have any issues, did you get the confirmation beep for successful pairing, I don’t think you need the App to stream tho, just pairing to you iPhone will give you calls etc
Okay. So here’s what worked. Forget the devices in myphonak, forget them in settings, turn off Bluetooth and the HAs. Turn on Bluetooth, turn on the HAs, it finds “R-Phonak hearing aid”. Connect to it.
Then go into myphonak. Turn the HAs off again. Start the discovery, turn on the HAs, let it find both of them then tap connect and you’ll get two pair requests. Select pair for each and now there are three entries in the Bluetooth section.
iOS 18 apparently not requiring pairing for Bluetooth HSP (A2DP)
