Homespot Dual Streaming Audio Transmitter With Optical Out

First Impressions

Well, suffice it to say I do not even get my Trax42s until later in the week. But I did test these out on a set of 6+ year old Koss Cobalt bluetooth headphones and I am impressed with the cheapo unit much more so in terms of latency and distance to the supplied streamer that came with the headphones. I got the optical connected ones. For power it has a supplied mini-USB connectoion and cable. Also comes with RCA and toslink. It was $29.95 on Amazon (allegedly $30 off or I would have gotten the MEE one for $59.95). I also got a cheapo toslink splitter.

Hooked it up to the optical out on the wall mounted 32" Samsung that is about 3 years old. It has a usb port on the side of the TV that puts out .5v to keep constant power. One toslink went iin my Klipsch soundbar and the other in the Homespot unit. It immediately paired with the old Koss unit and worked. Any latency is nearly unnoticeable. I walked about 30-40 feet before signal started breaking up so no distance issues for what I would use them for. It streams while sound still comes out the soundbar so I would be able to stream (hopefully into my new Trax just as well) while she watches with normal sound. I think it was a good $40 shot and we will follow up when the Trax42 XM get here.

You don’t mention the Smart Connect? The bluetooth transmitter will stream to that, not directly to the hearing aids.

Yup. I am aware of how the system works. That is also the accessory that I chose with the Trax. I get fitted tomorrow afternoon and will followup. If not and the extra device adds latency it will be relegated into the basement to wear with headphones while watching the only real team left in Chicago (well I guess the Cubs did OK last season too - I just don’t watch much baseball). And I guess I will have a better toy than the transmitter that came with the headphones that does have delay. And have a $40 toy.

With that can anyone comment on the streaming quality of the Siemens/Rexton streamer and if it works with zero issues??? Thnx. I will post my pre-fitting questions in the Rexton board.
