Hi issues with hearing aids when watching films on TV

Can anyone recommend an affordable TV device to link my phonak hearing aids with my TV. I constantly have hearing issues when watching films despite using a sound bar? Thank you.

You did not specify what Phonak hearing aids you have.
The best option: Phonak TV Connector , for newer Phonak aids.

Phonak TV connector is compatible with: Marvel, Paradise, Lumity (BTE/RIC style)

I know it’s not a device per se, but I went to subtitles quite some time ago and once I got over the annoyance of having them, it’s made it so much easier.

Me too, i don’t use the TV adapter, if subtitles are available.

My issues with sub-titles:-
I cannot follow the action and also read the words at the same time.
The subtitles are not always accurate and often lag behind the action.

That is surprising. We get a huge benefit in understanding spoken dialog, and as a side benefit we get the surround-sound wiz-bang stuff like determining if the helicopters flying overhead are left-to-right, right-to-left, front-to-back, or back to front.

Tip: Many streaming adjustment handles are available in the fitting software.

True, if this is the case i disable the subs and switch to TV Connector

Or “closed captions” “CC”, as they show on the screen choices. . . .

Another TIP: if you have an external mic for use with your HAs, turn it on and place it as close as you can to the audio output of your TV. Connect your HAs, and sit back and listen. Works quite well and saves buying another dedicated device (such as a TV streamer).

Well I am someone that if I have to use captions then I am just going to turn the TV off and read a book. I can either read or watch and listen. With my Oticon More aids I use the Oticon TV Adapter to listen to the TV. The adapter sends the speech audio to my aids and the microphones on my aids bring the rest of the sound to me. It is truly like having surround sound. I lower my hearing aids microphones slightly to ensure that the speech comes to me as understandable as possible.

TV adapters are amazing at dialog enhancement. It also allows dolby type sounds so movies sound almost as good as good speakers. I have used subtitles for years and dont like sharing my screen with constant sentences blocking the view. I was watching a movie the other night and had to check that i had my TV streamer and aids working because i thought someone turned on our home theater system. But even with a nice 5.1 system, i miss dialog unless i crank it up, then once the action starts, im frantically turning it down. With my streamer everything is balanced with dialog very prominent.
