Just wondering Dave. When you say “Saved Programs”, do you mean those produced in the App, or Additional programs added bybyou Audi?
My dispensing Audi encouraged me to use the APP when I couldn’t hear.
He fired me and ran away.
My new specialist encourages me to adjust volume.
But I adjust programs in the APP and save them.
They help. Right now I’m in one in a noisy cafeteria. I can’t understand at all.
Back to auto. Let’s see how Phonak does.
Speech in noise.
edit: I’ve found that the hearing aids suit me better if I increase the listening circle. Sometimes all the way. For instance at construction sites, and walking on roads that have no sidewalks.
I also have generally increased mids & highs on programs and saved them.
edit: Last night went to a noisy restaurant. I heard well enough to talk across the table. Experience? well who knows.
Pulled out the iphone. Booted the app. Hearing aids were shown in autosense.
went to adjust the “autosense” Instantly the sound changed. Display now showed “Speech in Noise”
Why is the sound different?
Title: “Help choosing hearing aid, please”
Suggest if your proposed brand of hearing aids has an APP that you look at the APP and see if it’s a help or a hindrance.
My priority is to be able to hear. Particularly in a noisy environment.
Takes a good sound test. (I don’t take those for granted. They are essential.
I’d really like to hear from first fit.
I’d like patience from the vendor so that they fine tune the hearing aids as I need.
I’d like REM
And I’d really like to use my hearing aids notneeding to pull an APP when I can’t hear.
And after every appointment I want a User’s Report showing how my hearing aids are setup.
I hear you! (excuse the pun) I tried a few of the pricey ones too like Resound but it just didn’t click for me. Recently switched to Ion Pro from Audien and I was honestly surprised. The noise cancelling on it is solid! I can actually hear people clearly now even in restaurants or crowded areas. I think you’d like it too since it’s fairly small. Didn’t expect much since it’s OTC and way more affordable, but it’s been a game changer for me.
Hi Peter.
Initially they were the programs saved by my hearing specialist.
As time went along I found a problem. My hearing tests and tuneups changed settings in Target he made.
But the saved programs weren’t changed. He always says, “you can change the volume” He always cautions me that he’s at 5% above volume.
I always find that I can’t hear well enough and “here we go again”
So the “saved programs” are too quiet; over time they don’t have the adjustments that the base program does. And I start to save my own programs.
So it’s both. the Care Giver’s saved. My saved.
When I can’t understand I turn the volume UP 2 notches. But autosense will switch me to some other program, and finally back to the lead program in autosense. And it goes back to the lower volume.
My first clue is when I can’t understand and check the volume and increase it.
Whoever designed Phonak Autosense needs to explain to me why I can’t hear. And fix it.
I like the APP better than when I first used it. But if I wasn’t being kind I’d tell you what I really think.
So…topic is Help choosing hearing aid, please
That’s why I’m in this topic.
Suppose someone asks a ka-billion people to take a pool
- what hearing aids do you use
- are you happy
- can you use them without meddling, and hear?
- how do your family like your hearing now?
- how do your colleagues like your hearing?
- can you communicate better?
- do you have an app
- do you ever have to use it
- do you like it
- would you buy this brand again?
- comments: what would you change
- do you hear better when you have a hearing test?
- Feel free to add more.
And if every brand had an equal number of participants we might see a trend.
I need help choosing hearing aid too, please
