On a basic less technical sense, I have had many people over the years comment that they can’t hear someone unless they have their glasses on. They did not realize that they were speech reading the lip movement subconsciously. Not true lip reading but if they can hear part and see part it is easier to get it.

This is quite amazing really, thanks for sharing, those of us who use lip reading can contest to this, body language is one thing I have noticed being “high lighted” as ones hearing deteriorates, for better or worse!
