JAMA Hearing Loss Strongly Linked With Dementia, Study Finds

Short informative article.

Ive seen this claim going around for years but what I haven’t seen (and I’ve researched this) is : What level of hearing loss is linked to dementia? All loss? Mild? severe? We all get presbycusis at one point in life, its the new presbyopia

And if it is linked to dementia, does it occur in younger people with hearing loss?.

Cleveland clinic claims 2 out 3 over the age of 70 have hearing loss. CDC says only 4% of people over 65%. have dementia.

Interesting topic but not new – I was told that 20 years by an audiologist - the guy was pushing to sell me a $6000 hearing aid , that was his selling point (since my hearing loss was considered borderline, he couldn’t use that as a selling point)

I know that I have to concentrate harder when listening to people - more brainpower required.

It is very easy to “disengage” because it does not feel worth the effort and a continence of this is what I suspect leads to dementia. In this case a withdrawal from society

Just my view
