Hearing in movie theater

Yes,I think they do sell Philip,I might have to check it out, thanks,

I’m glad you manage so well in these settings Chuck. Your speech recognition scores are better than mine. I have the same aids as you and a great audiologist and yet people like me with hair cell and/o nerve damage, our hearing aids simply don’t help in settings with noise, distance or reverb and we need this other assistive technology.

My word recognition scores were much worse before I had almost two years of therapy while wearing and not wear my aids. My audiologist was prepping me for a CI about 4 years ago. I asked for other options and choose therapy and getting use to much more powerful hearing aids than what I was use to. My audigram points to 85db receivers but I am wearing 105db receivers but that has allowed the overhead so I don’t have any feedback or compression with louder sounds. Also my ear molds have smaller vents that took time to get use to.

Wow, that’s impressive how much effort you put into word recognition and maximizing every part of your aid settings! Wonderful that you were able to improve! Was it aural rehab with an SLP?

My therapist was a middle school speech therapist, and she works with Veterans through the VA clinic I go to and volunteer at.

Sorry,to hear,I was disappointed also,I do not have the T Coil, but,I did hear that the T Coil is not as good as they make it out to be,go back to where you got the aids and tell them this,

There was a time that I depended on t-coils when at the movies or in church services but since getting my More1 aids and the fitting of them right I no longer need the t-coils at all. And to be honest I haven’t found since I moved to this area that the looped theaters and churchs have a descent set-up or maybe it is just my aids are set so well that it out shines the t-coils.

I don’t know, I am a veteran and my hearing loss is military service related. My aids are part of my disability benefits.

Also remember that your hearing loss and how well your audiologist does at the fittings is the determining factor that is important. I have been wearing hearing aids for about 20 years and I have countless number of fitting appointments to find the correct fit for my hearing loss needs. I also have a number of years of therapy to help me adapt and understand speech.

I see, maybe I should look into the T Coil I have a little trouble with my TV

The t-coils will not help you with hearing the TV, unless you have it set up with a loop system, your best option is to check into a TV adapter that will stream to your aids.

Okay, thank you,I do learn so much here,I know my hearing will never be the same as it was,and at times I still walk out of my apartment without them, as soon as I close my door,It does not take me long to realize I don’t have them on!

What hearing aid is the More1? I have the resound Enhance Pro PM never have been happy with them, but ran out of time to return them,

It’s the Oticon More line of hearing aids. Read up on it, here!

Does Costco sell these?

The Oticon More 1? I don’t think they ever did. The sell the Philips 9030, which is a brand under the Demant company, like Oticon. It has a similar philosophy in how hearing should sound, I’m told.
