I have Rexton Cobalts from Costco, so I’ll be heading in there again, but this seems like a very strange problem. This just started happening on my second pair, and I’ve had these for almost a year. It happened on my first pair and Costco replaced them. Yesterday, for example, I got the “battery needs changing beep” in one ear. Fifteen minutes later it went dead, and the other one quit working, too. When I changed the “beeping” aid’s battery, the other aid immediately came back on. In the past, every once in a while they just shut themselves off. If I open the battery compartment, they turn back on and continue working. Anyone heard of this?
Probably grease/condensation around the lip of the battery door or on the battery itself.
Common problem.
Clean up the battery compartment and also ensure you don’t block the battery air holes with grease or muck from your fingers.
(With some aids there is a tiny air vent for the battery chamber - this … or the gauze filter over it … can get blocked with muck leading to the same problem.)
Well I could see how this could cause one to “shut off”, but it seems like what one does, the other does. It’s like one aid is controlling the other aid.
Hmm … are they connected by wireless?
You may be describing a shutdown due to perspiration getting into the battery compartment and shutting down the battery (which breathes air through tiny vents in the minus side. Especially the “open the door and it starts working again” part sounds like the battery drying out and being able to supply power. I have changed from BTE to ITE to solve this problem rather than using water proof covers on the BTEs.
Good Luck,
Hmm … are they connected by wireless?
Yes, apparently they are per Costco audi.
