I don’t know what it’s like for Starkey, but in case of Phonak receivers the longer overall wire doesn’t mean to have longer the part which goes into the ear canal (see along the blue arrows):
The part of wire which goes into ear canal is rather the same regardless of the length of the whole.
I think it’s all about the balance between efficacy in the noisy situation and comfort. I don’t have a problem because my glasses have a thin frame with no rubberized ear parts. I don’t know what they are in your case.
