Hi - I replied on this page, even received answers but they don’t show. Being knew, HELP !!!
I have received from Costco my new pair of Phonak Brio UP BTE. I will be going in for follow up in a few days. The fitter admits she is unfamiliar with this product, so we are both learning, which is OK.
In doing the initial programming, she was trying to find specific programs to load that would be most beneficial for me. I don’t recall the actual names, but they mostly had to do with dealing with sound in noisy situations. But looking at her screen, she was looking at different charts and not a list, which lead to a little confusion what all was there.
I’ve look on Phonak’s website, but cannot find a list of programs available for this aid.
Is it possible that one of you that have actual knowledge of this product provide a list of names for each optional program? And if possible a brief description of what each program provides?
In the near future, I will be posting my experience on this fitting, and the setup and usage of the Phonak accessories.
Thanks in advance.
The wand contains a magnet which activates a switch inside the hearing aid when you bring it close enough. That’s all it does. Your fitter can program the hearing aid to change programs or change the volume in one direction, but not both functions. For volume, it will roll over to the initial setting once you reach the top or bottom of the range.
Yes, it’s possible. Though, it’s not likely.
I don’t like their hearing aids due to lack of adjustability for noise reduction. I also find it incredibly hard to hit prescriptive targets without excessive feedback or needing to occlude the ear canal too much. They are my last choice.
Costco Kirkland vs Costco Phonak.
what are the pro and cons of each?
First this will be my first set of hearing aids. I have significant hearing loss in my left ear due to surgery. Only slight loss in my right ear. My understanding that both are premium devices. The Kirkland is also resound.
I work in an office environment an use headset on an IP phone. I also use an iPhone cell phone with ear buds now.
i have trouble hearing conversation at restaurants an other places. I also drive and spend time outdoors with activities like fishing etc.
let me start the pro’s. Kirkland is cost.
What else do you think about both options.
I disagree. They have lots of adjustability for noise reduction in the YouMatic manager (15 degrees of noise reduction for premium products)
HEH. Exactly as AudioGal said. Oticon IMHO, makes the best sounding hearing aids on the market today. I’d wear their product over any other.
I recently got a pair of Phonak Brio R312T’s from Costco, and don’t know how to make the telecoil option work with my home phone, can you help me?
I also have the Brio P-UP aids as well and love them. I did go through several adjustments as my audi wasn’t very familiar with programming them. Read my Brio P-UP post here: Hearing Aid Forum - Active Hearing Loss Community
My Costco audi loaded up the program slots with what she thought was good for me. In the end I had all programs removed except for telecoil + mics to use on the phone. I found that the main start up program called soundflow worked well enough for me. The other change was to my ear molds. My first molds had a 3mm vent which I later changed to a pressure 1mm vent to regain some bass sounds back.
I think there are around 26 programs available in the Target programming software.
I’m in the keep it simple camp. I start with the automatic program, then add things later if people need them (which they usually don’t). Also makes it easier for people to get used to their aids, as they don’t have to worry about “what setting am I in, which button did I need to push to do that” etc. vs just wearing the aids and letting them do their thing. If you look at datalogging, the majority of people with multiple programs don’t use them.
Turtley - Thanks for the link. I’ll be contacting you. I’m sure we’ll have a lot to share
I agree. Especially for new wearers. You probably know the reason the programs were loaded at first fitting. It was in case soundflow doesn’t change fast enough for the wearer. For me soundflow works fine even if it takes a few seconds to change programs automatically. I’m quite happy with these aids.
You’re very welcome!
I’m trying to get my Phonak Brio P UP aids set up.
Does anyone have any issues with the ‘Speach in Wind’ program?
Everytime I step outside any little breath of wind across the mics, and the sound shuts down, all sound is reduced to next to nothing.
The fitter is having problems getting this program to work.
Thanks in advance
Before Costco did you dispense at a private practice?
Had Costco hearing test last week. Hearing specialist told me to wait to order aids as there would be new ones ready in a month or so. Have you heard anything about new Costco aids?
Did they specify make and model ?
bullshit artist never seem to stay… last time the expert was on here was 2/25 left after audiogal called him out.
Yes I did. I was heavily involved in the accounting end of things as well. I saw first hand the outrageous markups. Buyer beware.
Doc. Whom and what are you refering to?
You didn’t reply w/quote so we don’t have any reference.
Thanks
