I have a cheap ultrasonic device set up to deter the neighbours dogs barking at me and I was surprised to find that when I was working in the area and the dog barked, causing the device to activate, I could hear a short burst of a low to medium frequency “buzz” through my new Phonak M 70 s. hearing aids.
I, or my family had never noticed any audible sound before.
So its a first to be able to confirm that the device is actually activating via the HAs.
One up for my bionic ears!
The device doesn’t stop the dog from barking but it does tend to settle him down after a few barks.
Some higher end smoke detectors and security devices in my hospital (my place of work) do the same thing. Has happened on resound and phonak aids. I have just learned to step away from that hot spot. It’s very rare when it happens, but when it does it can be startling. Currently running phonak M90
Yes my Oticon OPN aids picks the sounds up too of the bark controls
My old Siemens aids would give a static buzz when I got under the motion sensors in the admin area of my workplace. I probably looked like a crazy person whenever I suddenly looked up at the ceiling, then shifted my position. Doesn’t happen with the new aids.

Same here. My REsound 7 aids often pick up harmonics of strange noises of various objects. My refrigerator occasionally triggers a curious response.
Interesting! My neighbour is about to install an “Invisible Fence” to keep his dog from running off. I was wondering if such a device would work the same way as a T coil loop in a theatre and trigger the T coil of my Hearing Aid. Apparently when the dog approaches the area where the wire is buried, it will set off a shock device in the dog’s collar and make him stop in his tracks. I hate the idea of such devices as I witnessed one dog scream and collapse when zapped with such a device. Not a pretty sight!
I have had to use them before due to living in a neighborhood that would not allow fencing to be installed. I moved as soon as I could. I disapprove of any area that tries to tell homeowners what they can and cannot do to their own property
