Hello. I was given a free Oticon PG-10 hearing aid. Visually it is an exact copy of Xceed. Does anyone know how it differs from Xceed?
Never heard of it. What country are you in and do you know if it’s from a health service or particular provider?
I am from Ukraine. I received these devices for free through the medical assistance program, but my audiologist does not know anything about these hearing aids.
It might be helpful if you post a picture of it. Somebody may recognise it. Has the audiologist tried to connect to it with Genie/Genie 2 software?
Typing in Ukraine and Oticon PG-10 into google, comes up with things in another language and assume it’s Ukrainian and I can recognise PG-10 within the language.
Okay. Yes, I’ve got a picture of it here:
It’s an Xceed UP. I can see the specs on the translation:
Output power and gain: maximum output power of 146 dB and full gain of 87 dB
OpenSound Navigator™ and OpenSound Optimizer™ allow you to hear speech at 360° throughout the day
Features that improve speech intelligibility: Speech Guard™ LX and Speech Rescue™ LX
Unique sound quality, 48 processing channels and 14 tuning bands
The ability to wirelessly connect to a wide range of digital devices: smartphones, tablets, etc.
Is it Xceed 1, 2 or 3?
Pretty sure only the Xceed 1 has 14 tuning bands so I would say it is top of the range.
@vip.vk.mail Just checked the software and the Xceed 2 has 12 tuning bands so you’re safe to say, it is equal to the Xceed 1.
Have you had it programmed yet?
Thank you, so I received a top model of a hearing aid, it makes me happy. My audiologist set it up, but I’m not too satisfied with the quality of the setup. I want to try to customise it more accurately myself. Could you or someone else share the Genie 2 software? I have a Noahlink.
@tenkan can help with the software but you may find they are locked but hopefully not and you can program them.
Thank you! I will try to connect and write the result.
Yes that’s the first thing I thought off, hopefully not, this a first on the forum.
The fact is that the author of this ad is hardly a specialist in the field of hearing aids. Most likely, he also got it for free, but decided to sell it, and he copied the parameters of the hearing aid from Xceed 1. In any case, I wouldn’t trust this information 100%.
I can’t find my Noahlink, due to the move I apparently lost it somewhere. Tomorrow I’ll be at my audiologist’s and I’ll try to see how my Genie 2 software hearing aid recognises. In any case, I will have to buy a new Noahlink and adjust the hearing aid myself, as the qualifications of our audiologist leave much to be desired.
Hello, I went to the audiologist today and looked at what the Genie 2 sofrware shows. This hearing aid has 8 frequency channels. So, it is most likely an Xceed 3.
Handels or channels? In genie you see the fitting handles, but yeah would be a bummer, I guess it depends on your sound environment that your in a lot of the time, so might not matter much if it’s 1 or 3.
As you self program, you could buy some hearing aids off eBay if you do find you need better hearing aids.
I’m unsure of the cost in Ukraine and whether it’s possible to buy off eBay.
I’m not entirely sure that the audiologist’s laptop is positioned very inconveniently for the client to be able to see what is happening there. But I can say with confidence that the hearing device is not password protected, the audiologist did not enter the password.
