I just purchased a new Samsung JS8500 HDTV and a Samsung Sound Bar. I’ve tried everything to get a connection: 1) HDMI cable from TVArc slot to the DEX (attached to an adapter that came with the TV)and, 2) an optical cable from the TV to the DEX. In both cases, I alternated between the TV and the Audio slots in back of the DEX. Nothing works. What’s going on here Widex?
TV-DEX doesn’t support the digital audio signal from HDMI or optical. Use the headphone jack on the TV if available, otherwise you’ll need a digital-to-analog audio converter.
Thanks. I’ll try the first suggestion first and then order the converter. What an ordeal. When does TVDEX intend to catch up? It’s not like they’re giving their hearing aids away!
I just looked up the prices for the recommended digital to analog converter, given that all else has failed to date. The prices range from $169.00 to $2,999.00!!! This is rather outrageous. Is this the solution? What is going on here?
I have used that one, and I can recommend it. You don’t have to spend a lot on a converter. There are many expensive choices on the market, but they are meant for professional use or really high-end audio freaks. The difference in sound quallity will not be noticed by most people. (Even those with perfect hearing)
