Have You Experienced Age-Related Increases in Earwax Production?

Well, I don’t know if my issue is age-related or not. But, it seems that, ever since I hit 40 in 2019, I have to go to my ear doctor every two weeks for an earwax cleaning because my ear fills up with wax that fast.

It used to be that it would take me only 6 months for my earwax to build up prior to 2019. So what changed? Why do I have to go to the doctor every two weeks?

Blood sugar hasn’t changed much. It was only 110 on the last blood test a couple months ago, which means it is only slightly elevated, and my doctor says that’s fine. So, I am at a loss.

This is really going to impact new employment because I was laid off from my usual employer for the past 5 years in January, and once I get a job I can’t be willy nilly taking off every two weeks to go to the freaking doctor (which is a 3 hour total trip).

So what changed? Why is it I have to go to my ear doctor every two weeks for an ear cleaning when I used to only have to go around every 6 months for most of my adult life?

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I am 77 and have very little ear wax at all. I use EarGene a few times a week for itchy ear canals and don’t notice ear wax in my ear canals at all.

Good question. I guess the answer is because you never learned to do it yourself.
