@AbramBaileyAuD Is this something you could find out? Seems like it would be nice to know. Also unclear if all Costcos will stop carrying Rexton Reach or just the ones getting Sonite Rs. Thanks. Edit: I tried contacting Costco through chat. They had no info.
The other funny thing is if you search Costco online now, you get nada about the Sonite Rs (or Sennheiser). I set my Costco store to Issaquah, WA ( the location of Costco HQ). If I search on “Rexton,” the Costco Hearing Aid Centers page comes up. Weird. If everything in that bulletin were true, you’d think Costco would advise potential buyers of the Rexton that they’re phasing that model out.
It’s been pretty common for there to be a several week delay between a product being available and it showing up on the web page. This partial availability does add some confusion.
My Costco in Albany, CA, showed no indication (today visit) of this change-over. The Rextons were displayed as usual. No mention of Sonite.
Standard operating procedure for Costco. Even their HCPs are not given any information until the day a new product has arrived.
Costco UK’s webpage still shows Phonak as a supplier…
Either they have an overworked web content team or this is a scoop to beat them all.
Supposedly in Washington, Oregon and 107 stores on the East Coast. I contacted 2 stores in Mass and they are carrying them. One store is so backed up, the first open appt wasn’t until January. When I told her that I might also be interested in The R Reach, and that they were supposed to be discontinued by the end of november, she told me that she would make a short appointment to come in and trial both aids. Very pleasant and very helpful. As an aside, she thought that in fact Costco was only trialing the Sennheisers and that is why only 107 stores - to see if there is the interest. She made it seem as if the new collaboration is not a done deal???
This conversation took place on monday…
Another thought is that they simply can’t produce enough of the Sonite hearing aids right now to offer them in all of the stores.
I asked at a Costco in California and they knew nothing about 1)Sennheiser Sonite R nor 2)Discontinuing the Rexton Reach (said they sell a lot of them. Pretty poor in my opinion that Costco can’t seem to release a general statement. My guess is that this truly is a trial run with Sennheiser/Sonova.
Can you give us the names the stores in mass that has them
For sure Wayland and maybe Dedham…
Stopped in at my Costco and asked if they’d heard anything. They said no but that it was available in Oregon. (I’m in California) I don’t have any solid data but it seems like Sennheiser availability through Costco is gradually expanding. Originally I’d heard the Southern and Eastern part of the country and it seems like I keep hearing about it in new states. Hopefully we’ll know for sure next month. Edit: Guess I was wrong and it was available in Oregon all along.
