GN Nexia 9 and Omnia 9 Crackles and Clicking

Hi everyone,

I recently started wearing hearing aids. I’ve tried products from different manufacturers and I’m currently testing the GN Nexia 9 and Omnia 9 with an MP receiver. However, I’m experiencing some issues with both devices.

My audiologist has been unable to pinpoint the source of crackling and clicking noises. These noises occur when birds chirp loudly, when I use a loud keyboard, or when there’s high-pitched whistling.

I’ve linked the gain chart here . From my observation, it seems that the issue arises between 3kHz and 8kHz, and the device may be experiencing saturation.

Now, I have a few questions:

  • Will switching to an HP receiver eliminate my problem?
  • Is the predicted MPO too close to the Instrument MPO?
  • What other options can my audiologist and I explore to address this issue?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Ralf

I think it is distortion. You can try to reduce the mpo of 3K-8K

And the sort of distortion it is is clipping. Any audiologist should be able to recognise that from the description and know what to do about it.

I think my HCP was able to tune the red lines so they were a lot closer to the dashed lines. The red lines are peeking above the dash lines at the frequencies of interest.
