Getting my first hearing aid at Costco

I experienced “Sudden Hearing Loss” in my left ear in 1984, and have been compensating for it since then. I had my hearing tested at Costco last week. My left ear is dead, and I have some hearing loss of high-frequency sounds in my right ear. I am getting a Rexton Reach fitted tomorrow. It will be my first hearing aid. I don’t know if it will help with my compensation for my dead ear. I wonder if anyone has had sudden hearing loss, and what I can expect?

Have you looked into CROS for your dead ear? It picks up sounds from that side and sends it to your good ear. It won’t be Costco cheap, but I don’t know if it would be better enough to be worth it. Something to consider, though.

Welcome to the forum.
Have you had a cochlear implant evaluation?
Are you totally deaf in that ear or do you get some sound? 40 years is a challenge for CI.

I’m totally deaf in that ear.

I will check into it. Thank you.
