Hello after twenty years without an hearing aid I want to seriously have a try.
Since I was nine my audiograms look like this (just a 10db loss in 4k-8k so far) but only in those days as a music lover I’ve understood that I’m missing a lot.
I’ve tried omnia 9 but without a charging on the go case, and currently I’m evaluating widex 440 that for music sound very good.
Downside for widex compared with omnia is wind noise much mure pronunciated and a whistle every time I try to touch head, lay down on a sofa or other things that involve touching my ears covering mics.
There is a way for eliminated that noisy whistle? ( even my wife can heard it)
Based on my audiogram could you suggest me something else to try?
Get a Phonak or Oticon trial. The whistle is coming from feedback. It can be programmed out by the audiologist.
Feedback is caused by incorrectly fitted domes or molds not the HAs, you need a tight fit in the ear canal to stop this from happening, if your using open domes you need to go back to the clinic to have some adjustments done, your audogram shows up to severe loss in the higher frequencies so you’d need a good fit to balance with the mild/moderate losses in the lower frequencys, get your clinic to get the feedback under control before making a decision ilon trialing others.
I wear Philips 9040 hearing aid with their open bass domes. I get feedback momentarily (about one second or less) before the hearing aid feedback program kicks in when put headphones on or when my hand cups the hearing aid speaker.
Frankly, if you are using some type of open dome, I would expect to get feedback when cupping the hearing aids with your hands or other item.
If you are not using open domes, then your HCP will need to look into getting you a better seal between you hearing aid and your ear canal.
I don’t have a problem with wind noise with the 9040 hearing aids.
As suggested, let your HCP know of your issues so adjustments can be made to your hearing aids. Hopefully, they get fixed to your satisfaction.
I would love to try Oticon but I feel like is way bigger than Widex Smartric and I don’t know how Oticon performs in music.
Those Widex do not have hands free calling and wind/feedback suppression is not that good.
