70 year old, mild cognitive decline, became recently aware of correlation between cognitive decline and hearing loss. I have age related hearing loss especially in high frequency. Want to retain natural sound with any solution, as much as possible along with boosting or altering high frequencies. Hearing challenges are small groups, theatrical performances, home audiophile stereo listening and the wife… Made the decision to go with used Oticon Real 1 Ha’s due to price, sound quality, and the music mode. Have the HA’s on the way, Noahlink wireless 2, need to resolve which release of Oticon Genie2 will allow me to maximize the use of the HA’s. And if that software is available for download? I am proficient with Technical challenges. Look forward to this one. Any advice and/or links very appreciated.
Check withh @tenkan who will help you with the software download. Welcome to the DIY section of the forum. BTW I am glad we all have something to blame that mild cognitive decline on
As the adage goes “we ain’t going down without a fight”. And sincerely several research projects published in the last couple of years showed that cognitive decline can be slowed in those with hearing issues with the use of hearing aids. My daily life revolves around notepads and memory aids like repeating as I am walking out to the barn, what I went out there for. I have always focused on keeping physically conditioned, but my “mild” cognitive slipping has moved up to number one priority. My attitude took a 180 immediately from being socially shy at the thought of wearing hearing aids, too these HA’s will be one of the most valued attachments I will wear (proudly) on my body. They reflect a proactive stance against the tide of years being added. Thanks for the heads upon Tenkan, I messaged him.
I like your attitude. I feel the same about my hearing aids. They feel like my lifeline. So important for keeping in the loop of life. I also DIY with Oticon hearing aids. I’m no pro, but can adjust them well enough to make a huge difference in my life. Good luck with your journey and Keep up the good fight!
