Experience helping a family member who needs help with hearing

Thanks. They are extremely supportive of each other. I envy that.

And the reality is that the hearing test itself is not always a perfect measure. My word recognition scores on the exam are terrific, and in reality are far worse. I have some suspicions as to why, but it’s irrelevant that I score better than I perform, I have to adjust myself to what’s going on with me.

Hearing loss has such a huge stigma and it’s a shame. Hopefully she will reach out to you at some point. I would totally agree - one on one conversations would be get better.

Good luck!

I have the same issue. Word recognition scores OK. Real World it’s not.

Thanks for your suggestion. However, I would refer her to my audiologist and let it be.

I have trouble understanding my own hearing loss and how I may use my own hearing aids best.

I am searching for knowledge that will help me hear.

I’ve mentioned my favourite book that I referred to above.

Thanks everyone. I truly appreciate your ideas and help.
