Echoing and tinny hearing

Any one have experience with your hearing suddenly changing in one ear, and everything sounds like your in a hollow tube, kind of echo’s and is tinny (metallic) sounding. I’ve had it happen a couple times in last 2 weeks, docs say they’ve heard of it, but don’t know what causes it. First time I had an infection and once that cleared up with drops it went away. Then a few days later woke up with it again. Lasted about 12 hrs, then went away again. Just a little concerned it can happen at any time. I wear hearing aids in both ears, and have had middle ear surgery on both so I know my ears aren’t normal but still wondering if anyone else has had this and does it usually go away. Thanks

I was told that it had something to do with atmospheric pressure and a narrow eustachian tube. Pinch your nose and blow gently and see if that improves it.

I was told exactly that!

I do have malformed eustachian tubes, and have to blow air thru them constantly, I’ve had a lot of surgeries to both ear, middle ear reconstruction, so my ears aren’t normal, but have enjoyed relatively decent hearing with my hearing aids. But had a couple occasions now, where the sounds have gotten tinny for a day, and was worried about it. Docs don’t seem to know, they just felt it would come back and it did both times. But it is scary cause when it happens the popping of my ears from blowing air does not help, nor does the hearing aid.
