Ear mold impressions with a mild infection, okay?

As the title says, is it okay?

I’ve had ear infections since early October and they’ve gone from severe to mild as they described it but for the last 6 weeks, the mild infections is staying as mild but also isn’t clearing.

I’ve been put on yet more antibiotics but I seriously need new ear molds, I don’t know whether its a good idea to do the impressions.

Hi Naida. My ENT prescribe me a wild/bitter/crappy drug and it work like magic as stand its name 3M(Magic Mary Mouthwash). Since it is upper respiratory, you should not be taking down antibiotic. It maybe killing wrong bacteria which weaken your immune system. I could be wrong. You need to discuss it with your doctor and Pharmacist. Am sure there are experts in here that will chime in.

You are properly right about antibiotics not working at I’m on my 14th lot of them

Naida, do you mean an inner ear infection, or an ear canal infection? The treatment is generally very different. Antibiotics by mouth don’t generally work very well on the ear canal.

after 14 rounds they probably aren’t going to work on anything.

To get rid of outer ear infection, you have to keep your ear canal dry. You may use a dehumidifier or air dryer after your shower, and take out your HA for longer period of time. You may also check whether you earmold is too tight and cause sores.

IMO. The answer is no. Having impression with ongoing infection you probably have swelling that will distort impression which lead to incorrect fitting. It also may aggravate the infection and make it worse.
“from severe to mild” which means to say the target bacteria is not completely killed. It is at your best interest to request a second opinion instead of getting more antiobiotic. The infection seems localised around your ear, neck, or throat. It should be treated there.Taking so many antibiotics make things worse and right now you are a walking petri dish (no pun intended).
You need something that will promote healing, anti-fungal, antiobiotic, and antihistamine at the same time.
Go see another specialist and insist for second opinion. After all it is your health.
