I have recently been given a different type of hearing aids (UK NHS), because my hearing loss has got worse. Initially I was given hard ear molds, but one of them was very painful to wear. I realised it had split inside my ear, near the cartilage, and caused it to bleed. I have now been given the soft silicon ear molds, however they have also split my ear! Is it ok to use Vaseline on my ears or will the petroleum in it damage my ear mold? If not what could I use to protect my ears? Thanks.
Vaseline will not harm your ear mold but, your mold should not split your ear. When they fit right you will not even know you are wearing them. I would have them remake your molds until they fit right.

Youch.
Leave it out until it heals. Book an appointment to have someone help you practice insertion. Seems less likely that something is drastically wrong with the shape of the mold (twice) and more likely that there’s something difficult about insertion for your individual anatomy. Someone needs to really watch what’s happening.
I could be wrong.

Thank you very much for your reply. I will contact the Audiology Dept, they’ll just have to do another ear mold then. 3rd time lucky hopefully
If something hurts… It doesn’t fit
